At Sacred Heart Academy, leadership isn’t just developed in the classroom. Many of our students find ways to channel their passions into projects that benefit both their community and the school. Junior Taylor Gerardi is an excellent example of that. Over the past year, she has built a successful baking business called Tay’s Treats, which allows her to combine her love for baking with her desire to give back.
Turning Passion into Purpose
What began as a hobby has turned into something more for Taylor. Her passion for baking led her to create Tay’s Treats, where she bakes a variety of delicious homemade goods such as cookies, brownies, muffins, blondies, and custom orders based on her customers’ preferences. Her chocolate chip toffee cookies, a fan favorite, have quickly gained a loyal following.
But it’s not just the delicious treats that set Taylor apart—it’s her commitment to making a difference. Taylor donates 25% of her profits from Tay’s Treats back to Sacred Heart Academy. In fact, last year alone, she raised over $300 for the school! Her generosity reflects SHA’s core values of service, leadership, and community.
Balancing Business and Academics
Running a business as a high school student comes with its challenges, but Taylor has found ways to balance her responsibilities both in and outside the classroom. In addition to being an entrepreneur, she’s a dedicated student and an active member of the Sacred Heart community.
For Taylor, baking isn’t just a business—it’s a way to spread joy and contribute to something bigger than herself. As she continues to grow her business, she remains focused on her studies and her commitment to Sacred Heart.
