Now in its sixth year, the New York Institute of Technology's Mini-Research Grant Awards (MRGA) program awards outstanding high school students all across Long Island. The purpose of these awards is to fund the cost of research materials and related expenses associated with promising high school research project proposals or ongoing projects in STEM-related disciplines. Proposals for projects starting Spring 2023 or Fall 2024 were eligible. The amount of each award is $300.
• Evalina was awarded an MRGA grant from NYIT to support her research project: “The detriments of ultraviolet radiation on the immune systems of earthworms.”
• Kayla’ university funding will allow her to study: “Can available light-blocking technologies minimize the harmful effects of blue light on Drosophila melanogaster?”
Sacred Heart Academy has secured two awards each of the four years it has participated in the university's STEM-discipline grant competition. So far, NYIT support for our girls has totaled $2200.
